Project Overview
In collaboration with Unity, a global medical device manufacturer launched an immersive XR training experience to support education around a next-generation leadless pacemaker. The goal was to create a compelling, skills-based training tool that improves knowledge retention, reinforces muscle memory, and supports physician engagement at a new digital innovation facility.

The solution combined a physical heart model simulator with a mixed reality interface that guided users through key steps of the implantation procedure — such as navigating the vasculature, deploying fixation tines, and performing pull-and-hold tests. The training was designed for use in both on-site environments and portable formats, supporting HoloLens 2 and iPad.
Key Contributions
In this project, I collaborated closely with Creative Director Blair Kennedy throughout the design process.
I led the end-to-end UX/UI design for three interconnected applications
  • A multi-user mixed reality (MR) training app for both HoloLens 2 and iPad, enabling physicians to practice the pacemaker implantation procedure in an immersive, guided environment.
  • A sales-focused iPad app designed to introduce the device and communicate its clinical benefits through 3D interactive storytelling.
  • A standalone iPad education app that provided a fully digital walkthrough of the procedure in augmented reality (AR), serving as a refresher tool and supporting remote or asynchronous learning.
Outcomes
The experience provided physicians with repeatable, guided practice — bridging the gap between digital education and hands-on training — and offered sales and education teams a powerful tool to communicate product benefits with clarity and impact.
